Utility Room Cladding

Utility Room Walls and Flooring
Ashton-On-Ribble, Preston

This project involved resolving severe condensation issues in a basement flat's utility room. We started by thoroughly insulating the walls and floor to stop moisture penetration and thermal transfer. Once insulated, we installed plastic wall cladding—a durable, moisture-resistant, and easy-to-clean finish for the walls. We completed the floor with vinyl plank flooring. The result is a dry, clean, and completely transformed utility space that is now protected against future moisture problems.

Meeting Room Acoustic Panels

Meeting Room Acoustic Panels
Kirkham

We successfully undertook a project to significantly reduce noise in a meeting room by focusing on two key walls. The process began by stripping down and reforming the wooden structures of both walls. We filled these cavities with high-density acoustic slab insulation for strong soundproofing, then covered the new structures with specialized acoustic plasterboard. The final, aesthetic touch was the installation of modern, vertical acoustic slatted wood panels. This comprehensive double-wall approach significantly reduced disruptive noise transfer and echoes, creating a focused, private, and professional meeting environment.

Bay Window Stonework

Bay window repair and paint
Avenham, Preston

The stonework at the bottom of the bay window had been damaged and eroded by the weather. I cleaned it up and then filled the damaged stonework with masonry filler. Once the filler had dried, I used a stabilising solution followed by a special primer to help prevent any further damage to the stonework. After the repair work had been completed, the last step was to apply two coats of masonry paint.

Decking Repair

Decking replacement
City Centre, Preston

The old wooden decking had rotted and needed replacing. This decking was located on a balcony, which meant I had to remove small sections and replace them as I went before moving on to subsequent sections. The old decking was replaced with new composite decking.

New Kitchen

New Kitchen (Howdens) and Wall Tiles
City Centre, Preston

The old kitchen was worn and had been damaged by a leak. I removed the old one but was instructed to keep the existing stainless steel splashback and cooker hood. The new kitchen, which can be seen in the images, was a White High Gloss one from Howdens. I also fitted grey subway tiles between the wall cupboards and worktop. Please note: the Gas Hob was installed by a qualified Gas Engineer and not by myself.

Sash Windows

Painting of Sash Windows
Avenham, Preston

The paintwork on the sash windows needed to be renewed. Some preparation needed to be carried out before I could start to paint. Some of the window putty had been lost or was loose, this had to be replaced. Some of the windows also needed some caulking between the frame and the building stonework. The final preparation step was to give the windows a light sand so the new paint had some decent to key too. After the prep work, I first did a layer of undercoat. This was followed by a layer of gloss paint. The last step was to paint the stone windowsills with masonry paint.

Bathroom Repair

New Shower, Cladding and Flooring
Newton with Scales

The old bath was leaking and in need of repair. Instead of patching it up, I was asked to modernise the bathroom. It was decided that a new walk-in shower would be fitted, along with PVC wall cladding and vinyl plank flooring. The old bath was removed, however, due to the leak, some of the floorboards and joists had signs of water damage. I repaired or replaced where appropriate. The next step was to reroute and run in the new plumbing for the shower. I then proceeded to fit the new slimline shower tray. Next, I cladded the walls with PVC cladding. After this, I fitted the new shower and glass shower screens. The final step was to fit vinyl plank flooring along with some new plastic skirting board.

New Bathroom

Fixing Bathroom Leak & New Shower and Cladding
Clifton, Preston

The shower had been leaking for some time. I was asked to investigate. Multiple problems were found. The old shower and cubicle had to be removed along with the wall tiles. There was damage to the plasterboard, so this also had to be removed. The plasterboard was replaced with a tile backer board, which is fully waterproof. All the joints were also taped up with waterproofing tape. Next, new plastic wall cladding was fitted. The final steps were to fit the new shower and shower cubicle.
